Activities

Swimming, snorkeling & sunbathing at the Irides area
Irides has a salt water swimming pool ideal for fun and relaxation. Irides is located right next to turquoise sea and it is just a few steps from the pool to the sea. The sea side at Irides is a bit rocky, that's why it is recommended to wear watershoes to protect yourself. When you bring your snorkeling gear, you can see lots of small fishes. Next to our pool we have created shaded areas with sunbeds, also on the beach in front we have sunbeds with umbrellas.

  Beachlife on Aegina
Aegina island has several nice sandy beaches. Souvala, Agia Marina and Marathonas have beaches perfect for families with small children as the water is shallow. Vagia has a nice sandy beach at a close distance. Teenagers will have lots of fun at Kamares beach. For those who like trendy beaches, music and cocktails, have to visit Aeginitissa beach in the weekend. Sarpa beach is a paradise location during the week. If you drive next to the coastlines of Aegina, you will find lots of beautiful spots, where you can swim, all easy accesible.

  Walking
From Irides it is really nice to make small walks. You can walk in the direction Vagia or in the direction to Souvala for about 2 km right next to the sea. Go early in the morning and watch the sunrise behind Athens on the mainland. For the more experienced walkers you can walk up to towards the forest of Agious or towards the hill of Palaia Chora, where you have amazing panoramic views. Or you can climb the highest mountain on Aegina, Mount Oros (532 m). On Aegina island you can find lots of nice tracks. A walk to the Eliones, a beautiful area with olive trees that are thousands of years old (2000-3000 years) is highly recommended. If you would like to walk with a guide, we can make arrangements for you. Have in mind that in the summer months it may be too hot to make big walks in day time. Plan your walks in the early hours of the day. April, May, September & October are perfect for walking. Especially early spring is beautiful as you can enjoy the green colours & the flower varieties on our island.

  Visiting the sites of Aegina
One of the most visited sites on our island is the Aphaia temple. It is a stunning example of ancient architecture set in a beautiful natural forested area with sensational views across the island to the sea. Visit the the cathedral of Agios Nektarios, named after its founder, who died in 1920 and was canonised in 1961. His relics are preserved in the first chapel of the Agia Triada (Holy Trinity) Monastery, next to the cathedral. Make a walk on the hill of Palaio Chora with its many little chapels. The ruins of this medieval city cover the hill north of Agios Nektarios. Discover the archeological site of Kolona, located at a 5 minute walk from the port of Aegina town, which was inhabited from prehistoric times through the classical period. Extensive walls and foundations have been discovered and excavations are still in process. On the site you will find also a museum.
